Summary/Objective:
This position is responsible for the layout, fit, and assembly of molds. Additionally, this position will also build/modify parts to make and repair cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges.

- Performs complete tear down of molds – clean, inspect, part replacement, grease, and reassemble.
- Repairs flash through effective welding of parting lines.
- Handworks and polishes all cavity surfaces.
- Maintains manifolds, hot runners, and valve gates
- May replace worn-out valve pins, tips & heaters
- Knowledge of tool room equipment: mill, lathe, and surface grinders.
- Answers production calls and performs repairs quickly to ensure customer needs are met.
- Have working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Performs engineering changes or repairs that consist of TIG welding and using pneumatic tools such as pencil, straight, and right angle grinders.
- Review tooling request with Tooling Engineer and determine if the request is to be processed internally or externally.
- Assists in maintaining parts inventory for common replacement items such as; springs, ejector pins, sleeves, etc.
- Maintains housekeeping of tooling equipment and area.
- Manufactures and repairs fixtures and specialized tools as requested and approved by Ethe ngineering Manager.
- Provides tooling assistance to the Maintenance Department as approved by the Plant Manager.
- Responsible for maintaining Profile system and PM software.
- Coordinates shipments of tools to vendors and customers.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
Education and experience required for the role.
- Associate degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience within the plastics industry.
3. 1+ years tool building experience in injection molding.
