WhatJobs is seeking a certified and experienced Mine Electrician to join our team, supporting mining operations with electrical expertise near New York City, NY (specific site details provided upon application). This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a mining environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, fixtures, and control systems in mining facilities and on mining equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical circuits, motors, and control systems.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with safety standards (e.g., MSHA, NEC) and company policies.
  • Work on low, medium, and high-voltage systems.
  • Install and maintain lighting systems and power distribution panels.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff, engineers, and operators.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and maintenance history.
  • Operate and maintain electrical tools and equipment safely.
  • Respond to electrical emergencies and breakdowns.
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment.
  • Identify and report potential electrical hazards.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical training program.
  • Valid Electrician license or certification is often required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as an Electrician, preferably in an industrial or mining environment.
  • Experience working with high-voltage systems is often required.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical principles, circuits, and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using electrical testing equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Understanding of safety regulations specific to mining (MSHA) and electrical work (NEC).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to work in challenging environments, including underground or at heights.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Experience with PLC programming and automation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of specific mining equipment electrical systems is desirable.
